New & updated tutorials

We will be installing new and updated tutorials over the course of this next week or 2.  New tutorials will include DNS functions such as changing your DNS and creating private nameservers (for the resellers).

Updated tutorials will include the newer Rvskin cpanel 11 themes and functions and we will be adding some new programs/software tutorials to the ftp section.

I am also considering a horde mail and squirrel mail tutorial and perhaps a wordpress tutorial.  I am always open to suggestions as well so you can use our contact us form at any time with your ideas.
Thank you,

Lifetime Hosting July Sale

http://hostingrevolution.com/specials.htm

We are offering our lifetime sale for all hosting plans this week.  It is a great opportunity for everyone and I always enjoy running a lifetime hosting sale.

So many have asked me how we can give lifetime hosting and still be in business.  It’s simple really.  We have 1000’s of clients and the majority of them are not lifetime clients.

This is a family run business and it will still be in operation long after I am gone.

Birthday in July

My wifes Birthday was on the 1st of July (Merilee).

We (me and the children), got her lots of presents and had a nice cookie cake for her.

Merilee is more than my wife, she is my best friend and soulmate.  Truly the one that made me complete and brought the joy of life to me.  Our family would be lost without her.

I love you always Babe.

Birthdays in June

Our youngest daughter turned 1 on the 21st of June and we had her very first poolside luau here at home.  It was great fun and I look forward to doing it every year.  It is just so amazing how quickly the time passes.

On the 29th of June our oldest daughter turned 18 and moved out on her own.  It was an extremely sad event for me.  I feel as though a part of me is gone even though I still see and talk to her a lot.  There feels like an empty hole is at home to me now.

Joomla 1.5.2 and other updates/news

We have updated all servers fantastico to offer Joomla 1.5 as of yesterday.
We are also updating most servers to apache 2.2 instead of apache 2.0.  We have done this one hosting 4 and hosting 3 so far and the reset will follow soon.

The SEO pages are behind schedule so I have moved the date to May (I hate changing a goal), and hopefully I will have enough time to sit down and complete this task.

We are also running some tests on servers for backups.  Starting this month (testing), and hopefully in production next month will be dual backups.  We will save backups on a weekly and Monthly basis.  I know some of you would like to see backups done daily, but that just seems wasteful to me.  It burns up so many resources and it is just not worth it…….. in my opinion.   So we will hold a weekly backup (refreshes each week), and a Monthly backup as well.   Remember, it is ALWAYS WISE to keep backups of your site on your PC at all times!  In fact, it is wise to buy a backup drive for your PC and keep your important files there as well.   The WORST way to learn this lesson is when you need it and don’t have it.  Those people who have been through a PC crash or hard disc death……….. KNOW about keeping files, pictures…. data… EVERYTHING … on a backup drive.   It has nothing to do with hosting.  I just wanted to offer that bit of advice.  If I save one person from the misery of a PC crash, then this post was worth it.

We are also looking into changing/swapping hard drives later this year on at least 2 servers.   This would be done around Oct roughly and we will certainly let everyone know about it well before it is done.

If anyone has any input or ideas, anything you want….. please use our contact form:
http://contact.hostingrevolution.com

Thank you.
Sincerely,

Our Office will be blacked out on the 7th

Today our IPs and office ISP are being reset and redone completely.  This leaves us here at the office completely in the dark for roughly 24 hours.  It’s hard to explain but it’s for the best and will be a one time deal only…..  I am going to probably go nuts waiting on the net…  .   but will use our iPhones and hopefully everything will be smooth.

If you have any problems you can call us .
Sincerely
Johnnie

Apache, PHP and server updates completed as of today

As of noon CST, we have completed all the apache, php and overall server updates with some new features and php enhancers.

We had to check some buggy applications over the course of 2 weeks but it turned out to be a glitch that was not something to worry about so we are FINALLY ……. getting the servers done today!

All Hosting Plans Bandwidth was upscaled

We have raised the bandwidth on all hosting plans, some of them doubled, some of them quadrupled.

50 meg plan now has 20 gigs of bandwidth
100 meg now has 40 gigs of bandwidth
250 meg now has 60 gigs of bandwidth
500 meg now has 80 gigs of bandwidth
1000 meg now has 100 gigs of bandwidth
2500 meg now has 125 gigs of bandwidth

Some hosting companies will set bandwidth and space so high that it seems unreal, and it is….  you can read the horror storied of what happens when their clients start using it (a lot of bandwidth and/or space) by searching google, yahoo, msn or the search engine of your choice.

I decided to up the bandwidth for our hosting clients after observing many web sites and their usage of bandwidth the years.  I don’t personally believe anyone will ever be starved for bandwidth on these packages.  Overall our best 2 sellers are the 100 meg and 250 meg plan.  They have enough space and bandwidth for most any site out there!

I have raised the bandwidth on hosting plans about 4 or 5 times now….  but never once have we raised the price of our hosting plans.

I have also allowed the resellers to offer more bandwidth to their clients as well.  From 25 to 50 gigs now.
Thank you for taking the time to read about us here.
